Gyttja as a Soil Conditioner: Changes in Some Properties of Agricultural Soils Formed on Different Parent Materials

Organic matter is essential in improving the physical, chemical and biological properties of soils. Thus, organic widely considered a crucial indicator environmental quality biodiversity. In this study, effect gyttja addition as soil conditioner on some physical soils formed volcanic serpentine parent materials was investigated. The layout incubation study randomized plots with 3 replications lasted for 8 months to determine value two different materials. results showed that pH, EC, total CaCO3, (SOM), wet aggregate stability (WSA), structural index (SSI), Ca-ex, Mg-ex, Fe-ex P-av values were significantly increased increasing rates, while dispersion ratio (DR), Cu-ex Cd-ex decreased. Likewise, SOM, WSA, SSI, Ca-ex DR, Fe-ex, Cd-ex, Ni-ex, Mn-ex, Zn-ex changes statistically significant. demonstrated overall decreased erosion susceptibility heavy metal contents Moreover, ameliorated properties.
